Pacific Cup Finals Day 1

By Alex Dodt

We've got a million things going on down here at the first weekend of the 07 Pacific Cup Finals and this is the place you need to come to find out what's going on all weekend long. Make sure to come down to Anaheim Hockey Club and check it out. Ace Jerseys is here giving away special Pacific Cup jerseys, there's new t-shirt designs at the merch table, new medals designed by Nick Dowling, and the best in the business IDI Photo is in the building making everyone look good, make sure to go check them all out. Also, you can't forget the L.A. Kings are gonna be here, Saturday and Sunday both weekends. They'll be out there with a radar gun giving away some prizes. So, in between your games (or even if you're not playing at all) get out here, watch some games, hit the merch table, check out some jerseys, and enjoy the Finals.

Here's what's been happening on the rinks today...

Mite:
The little Mites just started today, some teams have played others won't start until tomorrow. West Coast Heat looks like the team to beat early on, they knocked off RBK Bulldogs Blue 8-5. Mission Arizona Stars Red went 2-0 today to set themselves up nicely for the playoffs. Also, looks like OC Blades 96 and OC Blades White should do pretty well, they both won their first games today. Tomorrow, more round robin games for this division as we move towards playoffs on Sunday.

Midget Select:
Mission Raiders, Anarchy 949, and RBK Bulldogs Black have established themselves at the top of this division after Friday's games. Raiders and Anarchy both went 2-0 while Bulldogs only loss came in a close one against Raiders. This division is unpredictable though, RBK Samurai didn't win a game today but they still only lost by 1 against Anarchy 949. Tomorrow it will all be decided though, a few more round robin games then all the playoffs in the afternoon leading up to the Midget Select Final at 8:30 tomorrow night.

Midget Elite:
This is a 4 team division, but really this is the Battle For Second Place at this point. AKS Mission 88 is their usual dominant selves and they're looking to win a Pacific Cup title for the third year in a row now. They won all 3 games today without allowing a goal and I definitely wouldn't bet against them taking home Midget Elite tomorrow. The rest of the field is very even. Western Capitals have to play AKS 88 tomorrow afternoon in the semifinal. In the other semi, Sin City Snipers and Rollerplex Panthers will go at it with the winner needing a miracle to upset AKS tomorrow night. The highlight of the division today was definitely the Revision Skills Competition though. Chris Francis of Sin City was the Top Sniper but if you ask anyone who was watching the highlight of the skills comp had to be AKS 88 player Loren Barron suiting up in net for the shootout. He didn't win Top Goalie but he definitely had the crowd behind him.

Don't forget to check back in tomorrow while you're online looking at your MySpace page, come back here for more updates. Tomorrow we've PeeWee A and PeeWee AA starting up, Mite keeps on rolling towards the playoffs, and we'll crown the first champs of 2007 in Midget Select and Midget Elite. See you at the rink.

Alex
