Roster Lock Information
By Pacific Cup
|
All teams competing on the May 5-6 weekend must submit a final and permanent team roster. Teams not competing in the May 5-6 weekend must submit a final and permanent roster in the first tournament, after the May 5-6 weekend, which the team competes in.
Important Information and Suggestions
The “final and permanent” roster is the roster of players that the team is limited to for the balance of the season and the Finals.
If a team does not submit a separate “final and permanent” roster, the actual tournament roster, from the applicable tournament, will be deemed the team’s “final and permanent” roster. The applicable tournament is defined as the tournament on the May 5-6 weekend, or the first tournament thereafter that the team competes in.
Each team has 15 roster spots available. Use some of the extra roster spots, up to 15, as insurance against injury, illness, etc. You might want to consider adding a younger goalie (add a PW goalie to a Bantam roster), if you only have one goalie on your roster.
Players may no longer “change” teams after the roster lock deadline weekend of May 5-6.
The “final and permanent” roster must include all players, including free agent players, who are defined as not having previously played for any team in that age division during this competitive season.
Example: a free agent Squirt player is one that has not yet played in the Pacific Cup in Squirt AAA, Squirt AA or Squirt A. In terms of the roster lock deadline, once the free agent plays for a team, that player is locked onto that team and cannot change to another team in the same age division.
Note: The division/tier that the team received their points in is controlling as to what division/tier the team and player competed in. Example: If a Squirt AA team competes in Pee Wee A, yet receives its points back in Squirt AA, all players competing on that Squirt AA team will be deemed to have played in Squirt AA, not Pee Wee A.
Players listed on the “final and permanent” roster do NOT need to be in attendance at the applicable roster lock tournament of May 5-6 or the first tournament thereafter that the team competes in. Coaches must list everyone on the “final and permanent” roster, whether each player is actually there or not. Therefore, list all “potential” players, including possible free agents, injured players, sick players and any other regular players who are not actually in attendance in the applicable roster lock tournament. (May 5-6 weekend or the first tournament thereafter that the team competes in).
All players have a conditional right to make one roster (team) change, within the same age division, during the competitive 2006-2007 season. That change must be made on or before the May 5-6 weekend. A player may not change teams after the May 5-6 weekend. (See the rule below regarding what constitutes a “roster change’).
A player may make an additional (second) roster change, within the same age division, with the following requirements:
o A written release by the player’s existing team, signed by the authorized team representative.
o The change must still be made on or before May 6, 2006. (See the rule below regarding what constitutes a “roster change’).
A Roster change will be considered official when the player actually PLAYS FOR the team he is switching to in a Pacific Cup tournament. Therefore, a player must play for the new team in a Pacific Cup tournament on or before the weekend of May 5-6 for the change to be official and acceptable.
Please be advised that the information and suggestions above are, in no way, intended to communicate all of the applicable rules and regulations. The rules and regulations, applicable to rosters and roster lock, are quite extensive. Each coach and manager is responsible for knowing and understanding the Pacific Cup Rules and Regulations. Those Roster Rules are available on our website.
If you have any questions regarding the roster lock deadline, your “final and permanent” roster, or about rosters in general, please have your Team Manager give us a call.
As most have you know, each team will only need 4 tournaments to qualify for the 2007 Finals. However, as in previous seasons, we will still count 5 tournament values in the standings. If a team only plays in 4 tournaments, the 5th tournament “value” will represent an approximate average of the other tournaments. If a team plays in 5 tournaments, all 5 tournaments will count. If a team plays in 6 or more tournaments, the point total will be calculated in the same manner as in previous seasons (the best 4, plus an average of the next best two).
To capture the regular season championship banner, a team must actually play in 5 tournaments.
Thank you for your continued support.
